Implementing UC College Prep courses can be achieved in numerous ways. The manner in which an educator or administrator plans to use the courses is likely to dictate the steps they will need to take to employ them. Complete UC-approved courses with private assessments are available to any California school by free license. Courses without protected assessments are also available on our web site to be used as lessons and for partners who don't have the capacity to host the courses themselves. No matter how an educational organization chooses to use UCCP courses or lessons, there is no cost for California schools and districts to use the content, whether the courses are housed on a sophisticated server or simply links on the Internet. A district interested in developing the capacity to teach students at various schools using online courses, for example, would license UCCP's catalog and add it to a learning management system on an Internet-accessible computer or server. All technical assistance to users of the courses would be provided by the licensee, although UCCP would advise educational technologists and staff setting up the courses. For more information on starting an online program, visit this resource, http://www.onlineprogramhowto.org/. Remember that UCCP courses are only UC-approved if the school or district has an agreement with UCCP and the courses are taught in sequence as designed. See resources below about UC and College Board approval processes for more information. Although teachers are free to add content to the course in the learning management system, they may not remove content from the course or it will no longer be approved. It is highly recommended that schools, districts and others implementing UCCP courses, acquire or provide training in the use of the learning management system in which the courses reside. UCCP's open access courses are posted in a Moodle learning management system. Visit the site to get a feel for what an LMS provides. Before using UCCP courses we also recommend that educators review our Readiness Checklists and Technical Requirements. Enter Online Lessons in Moodle |
